I agree with you, El Estor is a great place. I'm a bit biased because my first fieldwork trips as an undergrad were in Q'eqchi communities, so when I finally got to visit El Estor I was quite enchanted. It's isolated and poor (the communities across the lake that are also part of the municipio are even more isolated, and still living within huge palm plantations), but I found the same spirit that in other Q'eqchi communities.

Glad to know at least some foreigners do spend some time in Guate City to look around. It is my home town and being the first one to admit that it isn't the safest place, I do believe it has a lot of charm and history and interesting things to see.

This is the first time I come across your blog, but I'll keep checking. Your atlas project sounds interesting.
